THE POLICE
The police take seriously all reports of domestic violence and will do al.l they can to help you. The level of action that can be taken will obviously vary from one situation to another. Police policy states that the alleged offender will be arrested if an offence is committed which carries a power of arrest, provided that you, as the victim, indicate that you wish to complain. They can also give advice on safety and put you in touch with refuges and other agencies. If you want help and advice, North Area Police have Victim liaison Officers who can talk to you on an informal and confidential basis.
